In Buddhism, wisdom (Panna) is not intellectual knowledge; it is direct insight into the nature of reality. The Buddha taught that wisdom begins with 'Right View'—understanding the three marks of existence: Impermanence (Anicca), Suffering (Dukkha), and Non-Self (Anatta). A wise person understands that everything born must die, everything gathered must disperse, and everything built must fall. By accepting this flux, the wise do not cling. They understand Karma—that actions have consequences—and therefore cultivate wholesome thoughts and deeds. Wisdom is the sharp sword that cuts through the delusions of the ego.
